Here comes the rain again
Falling on my head like a memory
Falling on my head like a new emotion
I want to walk in the open wind
I want to talk like lovers do
I want to dive into your ocean
Is it raining with you…

Normally, I believe there’s very little that can disrupt the quintessentially cool groove of a California day. But, lately, a few things come to mind: traffic, earthquake, fire, rain…

Yes… RAIN!

You know, that falling wet stuff that according to Tony! Toni! Tone! never happens in southern California.* Well, it’s winter here and we’ve been getting bucketloads of the stuff!

I can literally count on my hands and feet the number of times I’ve seen any substantial rain in the short time I’ve lived in SoCal. Honestly, we really do need the precipitation given that California has been in drought for several years. Unfortunately, this much rain in a short period inevitably leads to flooding & mudslides. Fortunately, cities here are being more proactive and have, at times, started evacuations in susceptible areas before the flooding, mudflows & rampant devastation begin. I’m sure you’d agree, this is a move in the right direction.

Now, in spite of any pending calamity, rain really does afford one the opportunity to (get soaking wet and…) capture something other than the usual sunny-day-in-Cali’ images. So, of course, I couldn’t resist trudging through the wet stuff to grab a few shots. Check them out…

I hope you enjoyed the images. I definitely enjoyed creating them – except for the getting soaking wet part. 🙂
