I heard the music long before I got there. Loud, punchy, raucous rock guitar. Someone with a gravelly voice, sort of off-key, singing a song I’d never heard before. That definitely tinny, oddly echoing sound was obviously amplified. If I had to guess, the volume knob was turned all the way up to “I-coulda-been-a-70’s-rock-superstar” loud.

As I got closer, the music got even louder, and I realized it was coming from underneath the overpass in front of me. Hunh. Whoever this guy was, he’d found himself the perfect outdoor studio/echo chamber

…and he was PLAYING HIS HEART OUT!

I stopped. I had to. Besides the guitar, the guy had brought a mike, an amp, a power supply and a cart to carry it all to perform underneath an isolated overpass! He even had “Guitar Hero” level moves! I was impressed. I was intrigued.

I was the only living sole in the “audience”

…and still he PLAYED HIS FREAKIN’ HEART OUT!

Gotta’ love LA.
