I never thought I’d hear the terms “mandatory evacuation” and “my home” spoken in the same sentence. But, there I was, like so many other Californians, packing my family, our dog, and a few important papers into the car to (very) quickly leave the immediate area around my home. In the end, my area had some damage, but none of the wholesale devastation of others such as Paradise, CA.
